Our Week 16 Top Logistics Stories
It’s week 16 and here are three stories you should be updating your customers and prospects on this week. They need your expertise!
Shippers may not be aware of what’s occurring or its importance, so offering your assistance and insights will help you build a stronger relationship with them.
Knowing what’s going on in the market is only half the battle. Your customers need to be told what to do about it and they should hear that from you.
1. Ocean shipping remains volatile. Some companies are continuing to frontload imports in anticipation of tariffs and other new costs. The threatened fee on Chinese-built ships is paused but the Red Sea crisis persists. Some experts think it's just a matter of time until volumes fall off a cliff. Chances are, your customers have some uncertainty about their best course of action. Help them figure it out.
2. On the flipside of the coin, many companies are taking a pause, waiting for the markets to digest the tariffs. With this time and space, it’s a good time for them to evaluate their logistics processes in terms of partner suppliers and technology. This is an opportunity for logistics companies to gain the attention of customers who may be more receptive and show their value.
3. Analysts are showing a 9.9% decline in truckload tender volume year-over-year, which means the domestic market continues to be weak. There are signs of an early peak shipping season for 2025, which could bring more solid volumes later in the year. This is another reason logistics companies should work to bring more visibility to their businesses and offer ways they can bring value to customers before things get busy again.
Of course, these stories are just a small part of what’s going on in the supply chain space right now. Updating your clients on how this and other information is relevant to their business is a way to provide more value and strengthen your relationships.
