Our Week 4 Top Logistics Stories

Here are three stories logistics companies should be updating their customers and prospects on this week.

Shippers may not be aware of what’s occurring or its importance, so offering your assistance and insights will help you build a stronger relationship with them.

Being aware of what’s going on in the market is only half the battle. Your customers need to know what to do about it and they should hear that from you.

1.      Reports are that the Red Sea attacks are going to stop. That would be welcome news for global supply chains. But, the ocean carriers are signaling they’ll take a wait-and-see approach, so any return to normalcy for the region may take a while. Regardless, it is a positive step that shippers will be happy to hear.

2.      With President Trump returning to office, the supply chain world is hoping for some quick clarity on any new tariffs. For now, they’ll have to wait. The White House issued a memorandum outlining what they’ll be prioritizing, but specifics, like dates and amounts, are still lacking. Logistics companies should be helping their customers by passing on frequent updates on this dynamic and important situation.

3.      The US domestic truckload market has been in a recession for a while, but data is showing that 2024 finished relatively strong. This is important to shippers because it’s possible there could be a strengthening in the market, meaning rates could rise.

Of course, these stories are just a small part of what’s going on in the supply chain space right now. Updating your clients on how this and other information is relevant to their business is a way to provide more value and strengthen your relationships.
