Our Week 10 Top Logistics Stories
It’s week 10 and here are three stories you should be updating your customers and prospects on this week. They need your expertise!
Shippers may not be aware of what’s occurring or its importance, so offering your assistance and insights will help you build a stronger relationship with them.
Knowing what’s going on in the market is only half the battle. Your customers need to be told what to do about it and they should hear that from you.
1. Tariffs continue to dominate supply chain news as the Canadian and Mexican duties have gone into effect. There is also some clarification on the new steel and aluminum tariffs that start next week. The continued uncertainty is prompting companies to reevaluate their supply chains, which is a chance for logistics companies to show more value to their customers.
2. Benchmark diesel costs are declining. The lower costs may be here for a while, as OPEC recently indicated it will increase production in April. Market conditions, such as a resolution to the war in Ukraine, could influence oil prices as well.
3. We are all looking for signs of improved economic activity, and we have some. Manufacturing output saw growth in February, following a strong January. These are positive after a 26-month stretch of contraction, according to the Institute for Supply Management.
Of course, these stories are just a small part of what’s going on in the supply chain space right now. Updating your clients on how this and other information is relevant to their business is a way to provide more value and strengthen your relationships.
