Our Week 6 Top Logistics Stories

Here are three stories logistics companies should be updating their customers and prospects on this week.

Shippers may not be aware of what’s occurring or its importance, so offering your assistance and insights will help you build a stronger relationship with them.

Knowing what’s going on in the market is only half the battle. Your customers need to be told what to do about it and they should hear that from you.

1.      There is some clarity and a little relief for tariffs watchers. Although it may be temporary. Tariffs have been delayed for at least 30 days for Mexico and Canada. China’s additional 10% tariff did go into effect and they’ve announced their own 10% tariff on some US goods. Further negotiations are expected, however.

2.      The tariff plans also put the de minimis exemption on the chopping block for China, Canada and Mexico imports, which is a big deal for e-commerce supply chains reliant on low-cost shipping.

3.      In good news for the US economy, confidence in US manufacturing is on the rise, as the industry saw demand and production grow last month, according to the Institute for Supply Management’s Purchasing Managers’ Index.

Of course, these stories are just a small part of what’s going on in the supply chain space right now. Updating your clients on how this and other information is relevant to their business is a way to provide more value and strengthen your relationships.
